Vietnam has imposed an anti-dumping duty on the import of some coated steel products from South Korea and China upon complaints by its domestic producers that unfair pricing by overseas competitors has caused them to close production lines.
Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade will apply anti-dumping duties to China from 2.53% to 34.27% and South Korea from 4.71% to 19.25% for 5 years. The tariffs entered into force as of 24 October.
The ministry said the investigation began in October of last year, based on the evaluated results of a dossier requesting the implementation of anti-dumping measures submitted by representatives of local steelmakers in August 2018.
In order to evaluate the impact of dumping on the domestic industry, the study was conducted with the relevant institutions. The investigation was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Vietnam Foreign Trade Management Act, the World Trade Organization (WTO) Anti-Dumping Agreement and related regulations.
