Canada announces third sunset review on Carbon Steel Fasteners from China

On March 26, 2020, CBSA made the final judgment of the third antidumping and countervailing sunset review on carbon steel fasteners originating from or imported from China, and the final judgment of the third antidumping sunset review on carb on steel fasteners imported from Taiwan, China: if the current antidumping and countervailing measures are cancelled, the dumping and government subsidies of the products involved to Canada will continue or happen again. Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) is expected to make a final judgment on industrial damage by September 2, 2020. The Canadian customs codes of the products involved are 7318.11.00.00, 7318.12.00.00, 7318.14.00.00, 7318.15.00.10, 7318.15.00.42, 7318.15.00.45 and 7318.15.00.49.


On April 28, 2004, Canada launched anti-dumping and countervailing investigations on carbon steel fasteners originating or imported from China, and anti-dumping investigations on carbon steel fasteners from Taiwan, China. 


On January 7, 2005, the CITT began to formally levy anti-dumping and countervailing duties on the products involved in the case of China, and anti-dumping duties on the products involved in the case of Taiwan, China. 


On January 6, 2010, the CITT extended for the first time the anti-dumping and antisubsidy measures of products involved in China and the anti-dumping measures of products involved in Taiwan. 


On January 5, 2015, the CITT exten ded for the second time the anti-dumping and antisubsidy measures for the products involved in China and the anti-dumping measures for the products Involved in Taiwan. 


On October 28-29, 2019, CITT and Canada Border Service Agency issued announcements respectively to launch the third anti-dumping and countervailing sunset review investigation for carbon steel fasteners originating or imported from China, and the third anti-dumping sunset review investigation for carbon steel fasteners imported from Taiwan, China.
