In September 2025, the European Fastener Distributor Association (EFDA) successfully held the 8th European Fastener Distribution Conference in Brussels, Belgium, under the theme “Shaping Tomorrow: Europe’s Fastener Distributor Industry in Motion.” The event brought together more than 100 representatives from leading distribution companies across Europe to discuss policy challenges, market trends and future opportunities. The conference also marked the 25th anniversary of EFDA, highlighting the association’s key role in the development of the European fastener distribution sector.

In his opening remarks, EFDA President Andreas Bertaggia noted that green regulations such as CBAM, anti-dumping measures and sanctions against Russia are reshaping global supply chains and creating unprecedented complexity for fastener distributors. EFDA will continue to support its members through dedicated task forces, regular policy briefings and practical compliance tools, helping companies navigate regulatory changes with clarity and confidence.

The conference invited a number of prominent international speakers. Paolo Pozzi, President of the European Industrial Fastener Institute (EIFI), offered an in-depth analysis of the global and EU fastener markets, the competitive pressures faced by European manufacturers and the implications of the EU Green Deal. Arthur Chiang, President of the Taiwan Fastener Trading Association (TFTA), shared updates on Taiwan’s fastener industry and its strategy to advance in high-end manufacturing and green energy.

Chief economists from Deloitte Germany and BusinessEurope provided macroeconomic perspectives on Europe’s competitiveness, supply chain resilience, innovation challenges and the reforms highlighted in the Draghi Report. Professor Sam Potolicchio of Georgetown University delivered an engaging keynote on leadership and decision-making in a globalized economy.

Throughout the event, attendees exchanged insights on international trade, regulatory developments and industry transformation. The evening cocktail reception and dinner further strengthened communication and cooperation among companies, fostering deeper connections across the value chain.

The conference not only outlined a clearer direction for the future of Europe’s fastener distribution industry, but also injected fresh momentum into global cooperation and dialogue within the fastener sector.
